My Mum is officially mad – today she made me go into her class of 5 year olds and be the official photographer whilst they acted out the royal wedding. There was Will and Kate, Harry as Best Man, four bridesmaids and the father of the bride, a ring, a cake, flowers, balloons and bunting. She even managed to rope in our poor local priest to take the ceremony. They walked down the aisle to the wedding march in front of the whole school and cut the cake in the playground reception which involved crisps, pink wafers and jammy dodgers! She even made me wear a dress for the occasion. Needless to say the children loved it, I wasn’t so sure.....
2011 is going to be a busy year for me. Recently returned from a year in Australia, not only do I have the not insignificant tasks of finding a job and somewhere to live in new city but I have to do all this against a backdrop of five weddings in 12 months. I have reached that age where all spare time, money and sanity is absorbed by dress fittings, envelope stuffing, hen weekends and the blessed events themselves. In the immortal words of Hugh Grant in a certain wedding based film...Fuck!

Oh dear.................. I can't believe she managed to rope the priest into it!! I hope he didn't do anything resembling an actual ceremony? That would have been FAR too creepy! :S
ReplyDeleteNo it was quite sweet, he just explained a bit about the wedding ceremony, read them the story of Jesus turning water into wine and then they sang a song. They didn't have to do vows or kiss, that would have indeed been incredibly creepy! *shudder*
